What Are Designer Urns?/ A List Of Popular Designer Urns

In today’s world, innovators are constantly looking for ways to reinvent existing products and services to fit the needs and criteria of all kinds of people. Notions of practicality and efficiency govern conventional practices of locating a resting place for a deceased loved one. However, there is a growing market for higher-end, one-of-a-kind stylish coffins and urns. If you are looking for the perfect luxurious container for your loved one’s eternal rest, you may consider opting for a designer cremation urn.

What are Designer Urns?

As the name suggests, designer urns are specially crafted by a team of designers, reinventing traditional understandings of burials. Several designers worldwide are working towards creating these designs to suggest a more positive outlook towards death.

List of Designer Urns

  1. The Memento is a design urn crafted by the French-German designer Geraldine Spiiker. Unlike traditional urns, which contain the ashes of a person, the Memento is made from those ashes. Resin is the material adapted to bind the ashes. The stylish design of the urn is also accompanied by its tactile element— you can easily carry it around and place it out for display or burial. The Memento is also made biodegradable, allowing your deceased loved one, if buried, to be back in the earth.
  2. Bios Incube has created an urn that converts the ashes of your deceased loved one into a tree. The Bios Urn is developed as an incubator that instigates and aids the tree’s growth with its self-watering system that functions with the help of sensors.  The soil is kept insulated by a thick skin which holds the water contents. The level of heat and moisture from the environment to the soil is controlled carefully by the sensor. It even collects data from this process and wires it to an app on your mobile phone. This way, you have access to data on the growth and health of the tree. After germinating, the seed can be relocated to a location of your choice.
  3. Lisa Merk has designed a collection of urns called Tactile Perception. They have been created from untreated ashes and a mixture of walnut and beech. They have a slick and smooth finish, perfect for you to hold in your hand. The genius behind this was creating a product that would aid people in coping with any anxiety encountered during a time of grief. They can be held onto by close friends and family during the burial rights of a memorial service. Its tactile nature acts as a  source of comfort.
  4. Wolfgang Natlacen has designed the most luxurious, egg-shaped urn. Its shape and weight at its base allows it to swing like a pendulum, without falling completely over. It comes in a shiny black or gold finish— a breather from the typically dull urn containers in the market.  The species of wood used is acacia. Acacia prevents the body from any rot or fungus. The child-like and playful urn is the perfect new-age urn.

We, at Titan Casket have recently tied up with Samuel Mitchel and their series of Designer Urns. These urns are handcrafted and sourced locally as well as from Italy. They come in five stylish variants. They also come in different sizes. The Langley urn in Walnut is made from black walnut and coated metal.
