How to Apply for PM-Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana?

On 16th March, PM Modi congratulated more than one crore households who enrolled to benefit under the PM Surya ghar Muft Bijli Yojana. This program was promoted by Mr. Modi on 13th of February.
The PM Surya Ghar has Muft Bijli Yojana now. This initiative rolls out free electricity for up to one lakh eligible applicants, each consuming 300 units per month. The Rs. 75,000 crore budgeted plan of the government for which the finance minister proposed in the interim Budget 2024–25 is the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana.

The PM Surya Ghar: To promote sustainable development and welfare of people the Indian government has launched the Mufti Bijli Yojana. The project, which might cost around Rs 75000 crore, would provide electricity up to 300 units per month free of cost. It envisages electrifying 1 crore households and helping them overcome the darkness.

Residential households’ subsidies under the Solar Panel Scheme PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana: Residential households’ subsidies under the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana:

1. With an addition of 2 kW, each kilowatt costs Rs 30,000.

2. For the with capacity more than 2kW, additional subsidy of Rs18,000 is provided.

3. The highest credit for the systems adjacent to or above 3 kW in power is Rs 78,000.00 only.

How to apply?

Step 1: Registration can be done visiting pmsuryaghar.gov.in Please enter the following information to register: Please enter the following information to register:

  • Enter your ECN
  • Provide your Contact Number
  • Also, enter your Email

Step 2: Input your mobile number and product number to login. Use our form to apply for the installation of solar panels on your rooftop.

Step 3: If the provided information is correct, the Discom that is relevant will issue formal approval regarding the technical feasibility details. It is important that the Discom owners and authorities be communicated and approve the feasibility of the plan to begin operations. Install the plant with any of the approved vendors connected by your Discom in the area where you receive the approval for its viability at any time.

Step 4: Once you have completed installing, go for a net meter and attach the details and specifications of the plant.

(Net-metering: The power yield of all solar photovoltaic systems is limited to daylight hours only, and thus these systems cannot supply power when the sun is absent. The remaining and unsold power is exported to the grid that is still the best thing to do after being used by self-consumption. Power is extracted from the grid and used for doing the job of the solar power which is unable to pull off the task because of cloud cover, for example.)

Step 5: They will produce the commissioning certificate from the portal by the time the grid connection inspector from the DISCOM or solar panel manufacturer in India inspects the net-meter after its installation.

Step 6: following on their heels, the board approves the commissioning report. To the portal, submit the bank agreement with a copy of the voided check. The pledge of your subsidy will appear in your banking account within 30 days. 

Conditions

  • The applicant is required to use their own email and phone number during the process of registration on the national portal to complete the registration process. A “No” would appear on the vendor’s email address or mobile number in the application, and that vendor would not be allowed to participate in the future.
  • To avoid the process of the application for a loan, it is essential that the applicant proves the account in the bank and electricity connection is really owned by him/her.

Conclusion

On Feb 29th, 2024, the Cabinet agreed on the sitting of one crore rooftop solar panels under the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana which is meant to bring sun powered electricity into every home. The Government aims to raise the funding of the program with Rs 75,021 crore of spending. On 13th February 2019, PM Narendra Modi launched the scheme.
