The Noun-Gender

Nouns can also be classified based on Gender. Gender comes from the Latin word “genus”, which means “kind or sort”.

Types of Nouns based on Gender

Gender divides the Nouns into 4 basic types based on the presence or absence of a specific type of gender.

1. Masculine Gender

A noun that is used to refer to a male animal, is said to be of the Masculine Gender. For example:

In the English language, the Gender of the nouns is determined by the presence or absence of sex and it has nothing to do with the form of a noun.
